Description
CATL’s 587Ah, 3.2V large-format energy-storage cell is a genuine next-generation product with approximately 1.88kWh of nominal energy per cell. It is aimed at high-capacity stationary storage where fewer, larger cells can simplify pack architecture.
CATL opened restricted business purchasing access to eligible mainland-Chinese companies in 2026, but the 587Ah model is not yet available through that channel. LiFePO4 Australia will only offer this cell once our partner factories and wholesale partners can obtain genuine new stock with the same controlled provenance as our Grade A CATL range.

Why this cell is significant
A 587Ah cell is substantially larger than the 280Ah and 314Ah formats commonly used in DIY and small commercial LiFePO4 storage. At 3.2V nominal, each cell stores approximately 1.88kWh before system-level usable-energy limits.
- 4 cells in series: approximately 12.8V and 7.5kWh nominal
- 8 cells in series: approximately 25.6V and 15.0kWh nominal
- 16 cells in series: approximately 51.2V and 30.1kWh nominal
Suitable applications
This cell is intended for professionally engineered stationary energy-storage systems, including large 48V battery banks, commercial and industrial storage, containerised systems, off-grid power rooms and grid-support projects.
Final system design must follow CATL’s released datasheet and allow for appropriate compression, insulated busbars, BMS and contactor design, pre-charge, fusing, enclosure clearances, lifting requirements and temperature monitoring.
