Description

The CALB L173F314A is a high-capacity 3.2V 314Ah LiFePO4 prismatic cell developed for stationary energy-storage systems. Each cell stores approximately 1.005kWh of nominal energy, giving builders a practical route to compact 12.8V, 25.6V and 51.2V battery banks without using an unusually large number of cells.

This listing is for new CALB L173F314A A-grade cells in 16-cell or 32-cell quantities. These are individual cells for integration into a properly engineered battery system—not finished, drop-in batteries. A suitable BMS, fusing, insulation, enclosure, mechanical support and correctly designed busbar system are required.

Why the CALB 314Ah format is popular

  • Approximately 1.005kWh per cell: 314Ah nominal capacity at 3.2V.
  • High space efficiency: the manufacturer specification lists 180.7Wh/kg gravimetric and 394Wh/L volumetric energy density.
  • Low AC resistance: specified at no more than 0.23mΩ at 40% state of charge, room temperature and 1kHz.
  • Long-life LFP chemistry: suited to frequent cycling in solar, off-grid and stationary storage applications.
  • Large-format prismatic construction: fewer series connections than a pack made from many small cells.
  • Known CALB model: L173F314A with manufacturer DMC/ID identification on the cap plate.

Typical pack configurations

ConfigurationNominal voltageNominal energyTypical use
4 cells in series (4S)12.8VApprox. 4.02kWhProfessionally designed 12V-class storage systems
8 cells in series (8S)25.6VApprox. 8.04kWh24V-class off-grid systems
16 cells in series (16S)51.2VApprox. 16.08kWh48V-class solar, inverter and stationary storage systems
32 cells totalDepends on series/parallel designApprox. 32.15kWh totalLarger or parallel energy-storage builds

Calculated figures use the cell’s nominal 3.2V, 314Ah and 1004.8Wh ratings. Final system voltage, usable energy and current capability depend on the pack design, BMS settings, temperature and operating limits.

What “A grade” should mean

“A grade” is widely used in the cell market, but it is not a single independent retail certification. A credible A-grade claim should mean new production cells that meet the manufacturer’s specification and retain traceable, consistent identification. It should be supported by the actual batch—not only by a clean case, a normal resting voltage or an online advertisement.

For a serious pack build, buyers should look for consistent production-lot and DMC/ID information, measured capacity, AC or DC resistance, self-discharge screening and sensible matching across the cells supplied. Please ask us for the current batch information and available test data before ordering if your project requires documented matching tolerances.

Cycle-life information: specification versus product-family claims

The L173F314A technical specification lists at least 6,000 cycles to 80% state of health at 25°C under its defined 0.5P charge/discharge test procedure between 2.5V and 3.65V, including rest periods. At 45°C, the same document lists at least 2,500 cycles to 80% state of health. These controlled test conditions matter; real service life depends on temperature, depth of discharge, charge/discharge rate, compression, BMS limits and cell matching.

Separately, CALB’s official material for its newer second-generation 314Ah energy-storage cell family states up to 15,000 cycles, energy efficiency above 96% and no capacity degradation during the first 1,000 cycles. Those are CALB product-family claims and should not be treated as a blanket guarantee for every 314Ah cell or every operating condition. For procurement and pack design, we recommend using the specification for the exact batch and model as the baseline.

See an overview of CALB’s newer second-generation 314Ah 15,000-cycle energy-storage cells. This linked article describes the newer long-cycle version; it does not replace the specification for the L173F314A cells offered on this page.

Suitable applications

  • Residential and commercial stationary energy storage
  • Off-grid solar battery banks
  • 48V-class inverter and ESS builds
  • Telecommunications and backup-power systems
  • Custom battery projects designed by experienced builders or qualified integrators

Important design and safety notes

  • Use a correctly configured BMS with cell-level over-voltage, under-voltage and temperature protection.
  • Do not charge below 0°C; the listed charging operating range is 0–55°C.
  • Use appropriate fusing, insulated tools, terminal protection and a non-conductive enclosure.
  • Follow the manufacturer’s limits for voltage, current, terminal load and module compression.
  • Do not use swollen, leaking, dropped, overheated or otherwise damaged cells.
  • Large-format cells contain substantial energy. Assembly and commissioning should be performed by a competent person.

Awesome service. Very knowledgeable. I have bought a number batteries from them and great experience each time.
Robert Robins
Purchased a Growatt Spf5000es inverter, pricing was very competitive and service was great. Highly recommend
Bruno Drinovac
Purchased a Deye inverter from LiFePo4 in June 2026. I am pleased to say that the inverter has been running perfectly with no issues for the last 1½ months. It has been installed into an off-grid system on a very recently built granny flat. This inverter was ideal for our situation and was easy to set up. The 2 trackers were very handy as we needed to deal with 2 different sets of strings operating at 2 different voltages. It certainly looks like a very well designed and robust inverter and will hopefully last us many, many years. If and when we need to replace the inverters on the main house, we will certainly be looking at using Deye.
LiFePo4 provided free delivery, which was very quick, arrived in only a couple of days. They sent me an email checking on how we were going with the installation and offered assistance if we needed it. Excellent Company to deal with and I would purchase from them again in future.

Mark and the team have done a great job finding the best solar and battery solution for my house, my parents house, and also friends' houses.
Their batteries are top quality, not like the cheap and nasty ones you find with "special low deals". Best to pay a little extra and get quality products.
Their aftersales service is exceptional with continual support after installation. Mark had provided guidance months after installation to maximise the production of my inverter, and continues to provide valued suggestions even now. 😀

I can’t speak highly enough of Mark at LiFePo4 Australia – they’ve now saved our motorhome adventure twice!
The latest drama hit when our battery failed mid-trip, leaving us in a power pickle. Even though it was outside business hours, Mark jumped on the phone and organised a replacement battery with lightning-fast turnaround.
This is the second time Mark has gone above and beyond for us – always friendly, knowledgeable and genuinely committed to getting you sorted. Couldn’t recommend them enough.
Response from LiFePo4 Australia

Thanks Steph. I'm glad we could assist. The cells you picked up before finding us at LIFEPO4 AUSTRALIA might have been B grade. We are glad we could help out with the 2 cells so far. If any of the others drop out, I'll send out replacements as quickly as we can. Enjoy your travels

I had an excellent experience buying components to assemble 2 battery packs. Mark is extremely knowledgable about the products he sells. He answered all my questions, prices are excellent, and when there was a potential issue, he went over and above by supplying extra products at no extra cost. Shipping halfway across the country to a rural area took only 3 business days which is insanely fast. I am totally happy with my new batteries and with Mark's excellent customer service. After 10 years of FLA batteries, finally going to lithium technology is heaven. Thanks again Mark. Very happy customer.
Vicki Wattus
Awesome customer service, Mark went above and beyond in sorting my order when we ran into a few snags with it. I would recommend this company to anyone who values good price, service and a great customer experience.
Response from LiFePo4 Australia

It was my pleasure Vicki, we love helping out especially those who need a little bit of help. We hope your get years of service from the Victron MPPT and Jinko 510W solar panel, thanks for you patience over the weekend while we arranged the shipping for the panel to the depot nearest you. The $200 we saved on shipping, was well worth the delay over the weekend. Safe Travels Mark

I totally agree with the other 5 star reviews and can highly recommend buying lithium cells from this business. I received my order of 72 automotive MB31 batteries quickly and I am very impressed. All the cells were within 0.01 of a volt so didn’t require balancing or top charging before installing. They are the real deal A+ automotive grade EVE cells as advertised and not B grade rubbish some online sellers are supplying. Mark actually answers the phone if you need to discuss anything before purchasing and is one of the few people I have found selling lithium batteries that actually now’s about how to install and set voltage settings in the BMS’s he sells.
Elliot C
Super helpful gentleman. I barely prompted him and he gave me plenty of important and useful information. Best customer service I have had in as long as I can remember.
