Product Description

The Victron SmartSolar MPPT 100/30 is a high-efficiency solar charge controller designed to extract the maximum possible energy from your solar panels while delivering precise, intelligent charging to your battery bank. Using Victron’s ultra-fast MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) technology, it continually optimises solar harvest, even in changing light conditions such as cloud cover or partial shading.

With automatic system voltage detection, support for modern lithium batteries, and built-in Bluetooth connectivity, the SmartSolar 100/30 is ideal for RVs, caravans, marine systems, cabins, and small off-grid power systems where reliability and performance matter.

The controller supports solar arrays up to 100 V open-circuit voltage and delivers up to 30 A of charging current, making it suitable for higher-voltage panel configurations that reduce cable losses and improve system efficiency. Configuration, monitoring, and diagnostics are handled wirelessly via the VictronConnect app.

1. Before You Start

  • Confirm your battery bank is 12 V or 24 V

  • Ensure total solar panel open-circuit voltage (Voc) is below 100 V

  • Use correctly sized DC cables and fuses rated for at least 30 A

  • Install the controller close to the battery in a dry, well-ventilated area

2. Mounting

  • Mount vertically with terminals facing downward

  • Allow airflow around the unit for passive cooling

  • Avoid direct heat sources or water exposure

3. Wiring Order (Very Important)

  1. Connect the battery first

    • This powers the controller and allows it to detect system voltage correctly

  2. Connect the solar panels second

    • Double-check polarity before connection

  3. Connect DC loads (optional)

    • Loads can be powered via the load terminals if configured

  4. Install fuses or circuit breakers

    • Place battery-side protection as close to the battery as possible

4. First Power-Up

  • The controller automatically detects 12 V or 24 V

  • LEDs or the app will indicate charging status

  • MPPT tracking begins immediately when solar is available

5. Bluetooth Setup

  • Enable Bluetooth on your phone or tablet

  • Open VictronConnect and pair with the controller

  • View live solar power, charge current, and battery voltage
