Victron SmartSolar (Bluetooth Version) 100 VOC, 20 Amp MPPT solar panel charge controller for 12, 24 and 48-volt battery systems (including Lithium) with Bluetooth.

Features:

Ultra-fast maximum power point tracking (MPPT)- Especially in case of a clouded sky, when light intensity is changing continuously, an ultra-fast MPPT controller will improve energy harvest by up to 30% compared to PWM charge controllers and by up to 10% compared to slower MPPT controllers.
Load output- Over-discharge of the battery can be prevented by connecting all loads to the load output. The load output will disconnect the load when the battery has been discharged to a pre-set voltage (48V model: interface with a relay). Alternatively, an intelligent battery management algorithm can be chosen: see Battery Life. The load output is short circuit proof.
Battery Life: intelligent battery management- When a solar charge controller is not able to recharge the battery to its full capacity within one day, the result is often that the battery will continually be cycled between a ‘partially charged’ state and the ‘end of discharge’ state. This mode of operation (no regular full recharge) will destroy a lead-acid battery within weeks or months. The Battery Life algorithm will monitor the state of charge of the battery and, if needed, day by day slightly increase the load disconnect level (i.e. disconnect the load earlier) until the harvested solar energy is sufficient to recharge the battery to nearly the full 100%. From that point onwards the load disconnect level will be modulated so that a nearly 100% recharge is achieved about once every week.

With this MPPT you must

Stay under 100V: Make sure the sum of all panels’ Voc in series is below 100V (95V to be safe) Higher than 100V will cause immediate failure
Automatic battery detection: The MPPT 100/20 figures out your system voltage (12V or 24V or 48v)
Higher voltage, more power: Running your system at 24V lets the same MPPT controller support roughly double the solar panel wattage compared to a 12V system (up to the controller’s current and voltage limits).

Common Questions

What does the 20 mean from the 100/20 number?

The 20 is the charging power in amps. You can have 1000w of solar panels in Parallel connect to the inputs, but it the MPPT charger will only ever be able to charge at a maximum of 20 Amps of current.

A Lifepo4 Battery is nearly always set to charge at 14.4v

The second number on any Victron MPPT which in this case is 20 is the charging power in amps.

You can have 500w or even 1000w of solar panels in connected to the inputs, but it the MPPT charger will only ever be able to charge at a maximum of 20 Amps of current at the set charging Voltage.

The voltage that Victron uses in there charging settings, for 12v Lifepo4 is 14.2v. You can work out the wattage, but multiplying this 14.2 x 20 which is 284Watts.

It should be noted that many solar panels do not perform at the advertised wattage. Ebay panels can be less than half of advertised wattage.

Most other panels usually just slightly less maybe 10-20% less in many cases.
