Description
100kwh Battery System
100 kWh (Usable) 48 V Modular Battery Energy Storage System
Not eligible for CEC rebates. This system is for offgrid use only, and can not be connected to any grid based electrical systems (unless behind a manual transfer switch and the installing electrician says its allowed in your situation/location)
This 100 kWh usable, 48 V battery energy storage system is a high-capacity, modular solution designed for residential, commercial, and light-industrial energy storage applications where reliability, longevity, and scalability are critical.
The system is constructed from seven (7) parallel 16 kWh battery modules, delivering a total installed capacity of 112 kWh, with 100 kWh of guaranteed usable energy. This reserve ensures long cycle life, consistent performance, and robust operational safety under demanding duty cycles.
Advanced Cell Technology
Each battery module is built using state-of-the-art 314 Ah prismatic cells, selected for their high energy density, thermal stability, and extended service life. These large-format cells are widely regarded as the benchmark for modern stationary energy storage, offering excellent charge efficiency and predictable aging characteristics.
Intelligent Battery Management System (BMS)
An integrated advanced Battery Management System (BMS) actively monitors and manages every cell within the system. The BMS provides:
Continuous cell voltage balancing
Over-charge and over-discharge protection
Over-current and short-circuit protection
Temperature monitoring and thermal protection
Fault detection and safe shutdown mechanisms
This ensures optimal cell health, consistent module performance, and long-term system reliability.
Modular & Scalable Design
The parallel architecture allows for straightforward installation, redundancy, and future expansion. Individual modules operate cohesively while maintaining independent protection, improving fault tolerance and serviceability.

Layered DC Protection Architecture
Each battery module within the 100 kWh (usable) 48 V system is individually protected using a dual-stage DC protection strategy, providing redundancy, fault isolation, and compliance with best-practice stationary storage design.
Module-Level Protection – 250 A DC Circuit Breaker
Every 16 kWh battery module is fitted with its own 250 A DC-rated circuit breaker, installed directly at the battery output. This provides:
Immediate over-current and short-circuit protection at the source
Safe isolation of individual batteries for maintenance or replacement
Prevention of fault propagation between parallel battery modules
Controlled fault clearing without impacting the entire battery bank
This approach ensures that any issue within a single battery can be isolated without taking the full system offline.
System-Level Protection – Victron Lynx Distributor Fusing
Downstream of the individual battery breakers, all modules are connected to a Victron Lynx Distributor, where each battery input is individually fused at the busbar level. This provides an additional layer of protection, including:
Secondary over-current protection for each battery string
High-current DC distribution with low resistance and even current sharing
Visual fuse status indication for fast fault diagnosis
Clean, serviceable, and standards-aligned system layout
The Lynx Distributor acts as the central DC protection and distribution point between the battery bank and the inverter system.
Redundancy by Design
By combining per-battery 250 A DC circuit breakers with individual fusing at the Victron Lynx Distributor, the system achieves:
Redundant protection against over-current and short-circuit events
Improved safety during installation, servicing, and fault conditions
Higher overall system resilience and uptime
Alignment with professional and commercial-grade DC system design practices
This layered protection strategy ensures the battery system remains safe, maintainable, and robust, even at very high current levels typical of large 48 V energy storage installations.
