Definition – Automotive Grade  – A term created to attempt to differentiate true A Grade battery cells, It no longer means anything. Because all of the fake A grade sellers, have started to use this term.
Automotive grade was an attempt to explain the difference between cells that could be used in series to create higher voltage packs, without fear of a cell or cells, failing prematurely.

A true A grade cell passes many tests, and its then tested for 1. Internal Resistance, 2. Voltage recovery (time) after discharge, 3. Capacity.
These 3 tests are the most important when a manufacturer is grading cells.

As these cells are primarily designed for use in vehicles, VDA Verband der Automobilindustrie

Better suited to very long life battery solution’s, critical energy storage applications such as homes off-grid.
